New Orleans-born and internationally acclaimed artist sørenVANDEGAARD has been shaping the art world for over 35 years. With a distinctive technique involving colored paper and polyurethane, he crafts mesmerizing textures and vibrant hues. “Everyone’s Name is I” was created in New York City and reimagines works from the Venetian Renaissance. The collection is composed of 19 works on canvas and one work on wood panel. VANDEGAARD now resides and creates in Maastricht, Netherlands where he continues to captivate audiences while blending cultures and colors in his innovative creations. “Everyone’s Name is I” will be on view through Saturday, February 3 at Historic City Hall.

Prepare to embark on a mesmerizing journey through art history as Soren Vandegaard unveils his exhibition, "Everyone's Name is I," at the Historic City Hall in Lake Charles, Louisiana, from December 2023 to February 2024. This showcase comprises 20 meticulously crafted paintings, each a heartfelt homage to the Venetian Renaissance master Tintoretto, reimagined through Vandegaard's lens.

“Everyone's Name is I" is a celebration of Tintoretto's narrative mastery and artistic brilliance, infused with Vandegaard's unique interpretations. Soren was captivated by the timeless storytelling embedded within Tintoretto's works at the Doge's Palace in Venice, Italy. This experience inspired Vandegaard to reinterpret Tintoretto's narratives, establishing a connection that spans over 500 years.

Through a blend of traditional techniques and contemporary innovations, Vandegaard intricately applies bits of colored paper and layers of polyurethane onto his canvases. This meticulous process adds texture, depth, and a sense of tactile storytelling to each artwork, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the paintings.
